It is always said, that Boston doesn’t have much going on, but that’s not true! So, I took it upon myself to bring you a weekly roundup of events happening in and around the city of Boston! They range from poetry nights, to entrepreneurship & networking opportunities to the littiest (is that even a word LOL) of day parties! Come through every week to check out the list and make sure to tell a friend to tell a friend! Poets! Speak! A Series of Free Poetry Workshops
MassArt’s sparc! the ArtMobile, Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Roxbury Community College collaborate to present POETS! SPEAK! – a two-day inter-generational event featuring a series of free artist-led poetry workshops, reception and open mic. All ages are welcome and no experience is required. Boston En Vogue – VIP Fashion Presentation
Our retro chic fashion presentation will be one of the most entertaining and fashionable events for the summer fashion season. Reminiscent of Havana Cuba’s Tropicana we are creating a unique atmosphere for our retro chic luxury fashion event. The fashion platform will be a blaze with unique, colorful and creative VIP fashion event in a unique setting reminiscent of the jet set heyday of 1950’s Cuba.

Jamaica Plain
Join us to meet different artists, share work together and be able to offer your ideas or thoughts on artistic growth. Look for one of these meetups each month, for the next three months (or come to all three!). Your hosts for the evening are painters, sculptors, dancers, and musicians. Bring Your Own Art (B.Y.O.Art)! All media, types of creativity and levels of experience welcome: Visual art, music, dance, performance, video, design, writing…..etc. Bring works in progress, finished work or an idea in any form.

Free Admission Day for Harvard Class Day
The Harvard Art Museums will offer free admission to all visitors today, in celebration of Harvard Class Day. Explore the collections galleries of the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler Museums, and visit our new exhibitions, including The Philosophy Chamber: Art and Science in Harvard’s Teaching Cabinet, 1766–1820.

From Inside Out: Reflections after Incarceration
Please save the date and come out to our free community opening at Black Market in Dudley Square. There will be some food, music and some conversation around the Criminal (In)Justice system. Artist & Community Organizer Ernesto “Eroc” Arroyo-Montano (Foundation Movement, United for a Fair Economy) and the ACLU of Massachusetts explore the obstacles faced by our friends and neighbors after they have been incarcerated and are continuing their life on the outside. Boston’s Mother Daughter Gala will be held May 27th, 2017 from 6-10pm. This will be a night for you and your daughter(s) to remember. A night full of dancing, laughs, food, and lots of fun! Come in formal dress camera ready! This will be a night full of memories!

Brazilian Cultural Fest
This is a traditional country wide Brazilian festival that takes place, every year in June, from North to South of Brazil. The Brazilian Community of Cambridge will show you this tradition, on May 27, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Come and enjoy Brazilian traditional food, dances, music and discover more about Brazilian Culture!

2nd Annual Women of Color Sisterhood Convention
Our second annual Women of Color Sisterhood Convention is coming up very soon! Last year was a huge success and we hope to see all the beautiful faces again! There will be businesses owned by black women, a group workshop, food, and raffles to win.

Tito’s Annual Turkey Fry Block Party
Come join City Councilor Tito Jackson for his Annual Turkey Fry Block Party. Lots of food including Fried Turkey, BBQ and Vegetarian options. Great Beats by Boston’s Best DJs!

Grown Folks II
Boston Youth Poetry Organizers have been facilitating a Youth Organizers’ fellowship in partnership with MassLeap; Books of Hope; If You Can Feel, You Can Speak It; and The House Slam. This year, we’ve hired six youth to maintain a youth-led open mic and writing workshop series. In order to pay our fellows and gear up for the second year of the Thiiird Eye Mic Experience, we are throwing our second #GROWNFOLKS. We want to continue to foster programming for youth to maintain a weekly open mic poetry space in Boston. All proceeds from this event goes to funding the Youth Organizers Fellowship. Let the grown folks, help out the young folks!

Backyard BBQ at SOWA Beer Garden
South End
On Saturday, May 27th, we kick off a series of summer long block parties at the SoWa Beer Garden and Food Truck Bazaar. Every Saturday and Sunday between now and the end of October there’s a food truck gathering and beer garden at the SoWa Open Market on Harrison Ave in the South End. On these special weekends, all the trucks will be offering special dishes fitting with the theme of the weekend. These events are FREE to attend and family friendly.
