Swing Dance at Homestead
Whether you’ve always been meaning to learn swing dance or you’re a regular, please join us for a fun night of socializing and dancing. People of all experience levels are encouraged to attend. From 8-8:30 pm a beginner lesson will be offered by Kellian Adams and Brian Pletcher. Snacks and drinks available for purchase. No partner necessary. Come on your own or bring friends. Salt&Lyte Summer Kickback: Row Boating on JP Pond
Join the Salt&Lyte Initiative as we celebrate (long awaited) summer! This will be a laid back time to connect with folks who want to experience God through nature! We will meet promptly in the Jamaica Pond gazebo at 6PM on this date. When you arrive, we will meet briefly before our rental time to share general reflections and request prayer, read prepared affirmations, as well as engage in thought-provoking, faith centered- dialogue with your boat mates! Neighborhodd Night: Sounds of Summer
Head to the Gardner during Neighborhood Nights for art-making in the Studio, fun gallery activities, and musical performances in the Gardens and Palace. Neighborhood Night – Sounds of Summer is co-produced with our neighbors at Epicenter Community celebrating themes of liberation and joy. Join yogi Marlene Boyette for family friendly movement in Calderwood Hall, storyteller Valerie Stephens in the Living Room, bassist Jeff Jones in the Courtyard, and get your hands in the dirt planting your seeds of intention. The Gardner partners with local culture makers, neighborhood organizations, and artists to offer fun and interactive activities for you and your family. Can’t make it July 13? Mass LEAP (Literary Education & Performance) will be sending 5 of the most talented teen writers to the annual Brave New Voices International Festival in San Francisco. As a team send-off, the nationally renowned adult slam team, representing the House Slam at the Haley House has challenged the youngsters for city-wide glory! Both teams will be featuring incredible new individual and collaborative work. Members of the audience will be asked to judge without knowing that in reality, everyone wins when these remarkable voices hit the mic!

Brazil on the Greenway II is the cultural and educational event organized by the Brazilian Consulate General in Boston . This event is part of the Consulate’s policy for the promotion and dissemination of Brazilian culture in the region, seeking to increase the visibility of local artists, Brazilians and North Americans, who have Brazil as the central theme of their work. From this perspective and considering the great results of last year’s event it is our wish that this become an annual event!

The country of Jamaica will celebrate its 55th anniversary of its independence on August 6, 2017. To commemorate this achievement, Celebrate Jamaica, Inc., in collaboration with the Jamaican Diaspora in Boston, is hosting a series of events to showcase Jamaica’s history and rich culture. These events will take place from July 15, 2017- August 12, 2017. Yard Food, Yard Style and Labrish is a Jamaican “yard style” back yard party with authentic home-style Jamaican food, storytelling, island music, and games. The event will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2-8pm at the Massasoit Elks Lodge, 55 Bishop Allen Drive, Cambridge, MA 02139. Local Jamaican actress, writer and folklorist Marcia Fearon will share Louise Bennett stories and others are welcome to share Jamaican folkloric stories and other stories. The Hon. Louise Simone Bennett-Coverley, affectionately known as Ms. Lou, is one of Jamaica’s most loved Folklorist, and Writer.
